Mysterious Skater Saves Children from Ruin

Just like an old Western movie, the mysterious “Number 28” skated into town and dispensed justice in the form of two goals and an assist as Mott handed Ashley’s Ruination (9-6-1) its third straight loss 0-4 Saturday night.

“Who is that guy?” asked rancher Steve Pouliot.

“I don’t know,” said a visibly agitated Mark Woods, mayor of Olympic Ice, according to Four Square. “But, I reckon he could be trouble.”

And, trouble he was. Without a word, El Twenty-Ocho, as he was called, immediately put pressure on Ashley’s in the first period, who found themselves without a full posse. The Ruination held off theĀ barrageĀ until mid-way through the second period, when the stranger finally struck.

He would strike again in the third with a centering pass for a goal and a power play blast to put the game out of reach with just under six minutes to go.

“I don’t know who he was,” said a bystander, “But them children in the hospital have got to feel better already.”

Indeed.

“Via con dios, stranger. Until we meet again,” whispered Woods from the shadow of Ashley’s Saloon.
