Playoff hopes were dashed late Sunday night as Miller Lite’s #13 scored all three goals to beat Aventinus (4-11-2) in the first round of the Tier II Winter season. The loss leaves the team with several questions marks, including Justin Baier, Joe Crossno, and Steven Golombisky.
“I’ll be back for the summer season,” said Baier, who indicated he can sub for Spring.
“Just as long as it’s every game!” said defenseman Ed Boucher.
Rumors have been swirling over the future of father-son duo Crossno and Golombisky, who have reportedly received contract offers from Cubs AC manager Mich “Is-it-Pronounced-‘Mitch’-or-‘Midge'” Rasulis to play in the Tier I league.
“If she offered them the garden pizza or the fresh salsa, then I simply can’t compete,” said GM Mark Woods. “I can only hope that the mandatory karaoke night will be enough to keep them from going.”
Added Woods: “They’reĀ chapatiĀ is pretty good, too.”
The team is hoping to add some scoring punch from forward Scott Bray, and newly-added Chris Sutton, who will join the team in the Spring session. “The team mistakenly thinks that adding defenseman Mark Woods will help the team in scoring,” said the GM. “But, the guy’s scored like what– maybe 5 goals in 10 years? I don’t think so.”
