Paul Makes Believers of Atoms

Paul Sholtis had a strong game in net as Hopslam dominated the Ice-o-topes on its way to 5-2 win Saturday night on Olympic Ice. The victory puts Hopslam back above .500 in a league searching for a dominant team.

“Thanks, guys,” said a humble Sholtis, whose grandparents travelled all the way to the rink to see him play net for the first time in ten years.

“Nice job, Paul!” teammates said, singing his praise. Sholtis gave up just two goals– a deflection in the second and a back door shot in the third.

“That second goal was my fault,” said a repentant Mark Woods.

Matt Sachaefer had a natural hattrick, scoring the last three goals of the game, including an empty-netter with just under a minute-and-a-half to play. Also not one to brag, Schaefer tried to credit Woods with the goal. “That’s yours, right? Since I took your shift.” Schaefer played defense while killing off a penalty when defenseman Al Johnson was called for tripping in the third.

“This game represents a nice return to Hopslam Hockey,” noted GM Mark Woods. “We are at our best when we pass well, catch well, shoot well, and give hell… preferably to the other team and not so much to ourselves.”
