Hop-Slammed, Ruination Rolls

Ashley’s Hopslam allowed five unanswered goals to fall to the Yaks-2 4-6 last night at Varsity Ice. Matt Schaefer and Bob Brock opened a 2-0 lead early, and center Scott Coates made it 3-1, but the Yaks took control in the third period, going ahead 4-3 two minutes into the period. Defenseman Mark Woods finished the scoring with  35 seconds left in the game. Hopslam has dropped its last five games coming into the playoffs, set to start next Tuesday night.

The Ruination dominated the Ice-o-topes 1 Tuesday night 9-2 on Stadium Ice. Right winger Ryan Oxford scored four goals and added 3 assists. John Vella and Jason Spence also added two goals, while Sean McGrath added a goal in the win. Net minder Rusty Barron held the Topes scoreless through the first half of the game before allowing one in the middle of the second period, and a meaningless one with only seconds left in the game.
