ANN ARBOR– Matt Schaefer, Sean McGrath, Nate Greenman, and John Vella made their case to return to C-league’s Ruination team as Ashley’s Hopslam dominated the Leafs Wednesday evening in an 11-1 win. Schaefer lead all scorers with 2 goals and 3 assists, while McGrath got his first hat trick “in a really, really long time or so,” according to team statistician Marge Innovera (former Car Guys statistician). Greenman added two goals and an assist, his eighth of the season, while Vella added two more.
“These guys definitely want to move back to Ruination,” said GM Mark Woods. “With stat padding like that, it’ll be hard to say ‘no.'”
Added Woods: “Especially since Abe (Colwell, league director) will more than likely demand it.”
Schaefer has been the most diplomatic of the four former Ruinationiers, claiming to enjoy his tenure with Hopslam. “I really want to help bring a championship to Hopslam,” said Schaefer in an interview last year.
“Put me down for full time for Hopslam!” echoed Greenman, though he couldn’t help but to express how much he enjoys teaming up with skaters like defenseman Jason SPence of Ruination.
“If these guys want to play in the C-league, they’re gonna have to pay their dues,” stated Woods. When pressed to spell out what the so-called dues are, Woods noted that they’d have to wait until September (the start of the Fall season) and pay $385, or “at least the $100 deposit” to start the season.
