ANN ARBOR– In a shocking development early Monday, reports claim the Ashley’s Ruination-Hopslam rivalry game was in fact a staged marketing ploy from none other than the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Company and the Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar.

Emails thought to be destroyed were uncovered Monday morning linking several players to the growing conspiracy. In a 200-page document titled “Operation: Lime Time,” an email sent from Ruination forward Ricky Winowiecki clearly states the game was merely a ruse to obtain food and drinks at the local BWW establishment. The email states:

“…by letting the D1 (Hopslam) team win, we all got to be winners, because nothing makes me feel more like a winner than drinking a Bud Light Lime with my #1 goaltender (Anthony Ciatti) at my favorite buffalo style wild wings establishment.”

The report confirmed suspicions for Hopslam skaters. Forward Chris Sutton (assist) noted that “it was pretty clear [they] were taking it easy on us. It was obviously a charity effort letting Andrew (Thompson) put in 5 goals as well. That special little guy is going to remember that game for a long time.”

Added Sutton: “… he even saved a game puck.”

The allegations were denied by goaltender Anthony Ciatti, noting that Bob Brock’s “shot was a very good one.”

John Hwang and Ryan Williams also added goals in the game. The final score (pending review from league officials in Toronto) was 8-3 in favor of Hopslam.
