Diving and Dollars Weekend Extravaganza

Gorham falling after receiving a shove from an Ice Dog player.

HOPSLAM– Defenseman Steve Gorham had the audacity to fall after receiving a rough shove from  Ice Dog James Marshall late in the third period of Hopslam’s 4-4 tie Saturday. He received an unsportsmanlike conduct for diving, and sentenced to three minutes, a fine of approximately $4,000, and diving lessons from former Olympic champion Greg Louganis.

The fine will then be directed to his medical bills for mysterious back pain, allegedly caused by the roughing penalty.

David Gaydos scored twice, while Andrew THompson and Peter Girz added goals, all in the third period.

RUINATION– Jordan Swift gathered in a natural hat trick en route to a 9-2 Ruination win over Black Ops Saturday night. Sean McGrath also had a hat trick, while Sean Lopez scored two. Paul Drevnick scored one, and statistician Marge Inovera added assists for Rusty Barron and Mark Woods, giving both players their first points of the season.

Sources close to the team report that Ricky Winowiecki (2 assists) will no longer serve as the team ambassador following allegations of a playground incident in which names were called and timeouts were had.

Winowiecki stated that he did not care, but the trembling lower lip suggested otherwise.

AVENTINUS– The Motor City Casino held David Gaydos to a rare scoreless performance Sunday night as Aventinus fell to North Coast 2-4. “I kept trying to pass it to David,” said defenseman Mark Woods, “but he was nowhere to be found.”

The gamble did not pay off for Aventinus, though Daryl Coleman managed a goal in the slot early in the second period, and Ginny Klinesteker managed to poke her goal in early in the third to tie up the game.

However, a North Coast goal mid-way through the third had players asking  if their luck had run out.

“Craps!” shouted Woods as a late empty net goal dropped in. “Were we keen? No,” he added.
