Hole-y Goalies!

Coates earned the nickname Summer’s Eve for his refreshing behavior on and off the ice.

HOPSLAM– Scott Coates scored four goals in the 9-7 win against Sasquatch Tuesday night, earning praise and commentary from fellow teammates. “He’s slow, he can’t or won’t stop or skate backwards, and he has nothing but complaints about everything from not getting beer handed to him fast enough to how everything is better in Canada, but the man can score goals,” said a teammate. “He’s as cool as a summer’s eve on the ice.” Others noted that Coates is cool like summer’s eve off the ice as well.

RUINATION– Ashley’s Ruination outlasted the Black Bears 6-5 Tuesday night in what forward Ricky Winowiecki (goal, assist) called an “administrative” win. “We won because we have (GM) Mark Woods,” he stated in the press conference following the game. Winowiecki also announced that for unrelated reasons, he can now easily afford that new Corvette he always wanted. Austin Feeney had two goals in the win.

AVENTINUS– Poetic justice was served in Aventinus’s 2-0 win Wednesday when it was discovered that the Ice Cats brought in Luke Denison from the Tier I Sasquatch team, presumbably to enhance their chances of scoring. When asked about David Gaydos (subbing from the Tier I Ashley’s Hopslam team), GM Mark Woods simply noted that “that’s different.” Les Withrow and Scott Bray each scored, and Chris Sutton earned his first shutout.
